What Happens If My Prepaid Renewal Payment Fails?

Updated over a month ago

Life happens. Maybe you forgot to top up, or maybe your card didn’t have enough funds at the time. Don’t stress, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a quick guide on what happens if your prepaid plan renewal doesn’t go through, and how to get back on track.

💡 First Things First: How Renewals Work

We try to charge your renewal about 24 hours before your plan is due.

  • If the payment succeeds, you’re all set, no action needed.

  • If it fails, we’ll try again automatically before your plan lapses.

⏱️ If You Top Up Before the Renewal Date

Good news, if you add credit before that second attempt, your plan will renew as normal.

👉 Result: No disruption, you stay connected.

❌ If You Top Up After the Renewal Date

If your plan has already expired before you top up:

  1. Your credit will sit in your account and be used for your next service payment.

  2. You’ll need to repurchase your prepaid plan. Topping up alone won’t restart it automatically.

👉 Result: You must log in and buy the plan again.

🔄 What If You Have Multiple Accounts?

Let’s say you have:

  • 1 prepaid plan

  • 2 postpaid plans

If your prepaid renewal fails because of insufficient funds, here’s what happens when you top up:

  • The credit will first cover the missed prepaid payment (if it’s still within the retry window).

  • Your postpaid accounts continue as normal and will be charged on their usual dates.

✨ Quick Recap

  • Top up before renewal? Plan continues automatically.

  • Top up after renewal? You’ll need to repurchase your prepaid plan.

  • Multiple accounts? Credit is applied to what’s due first, then the rest follows as normal.

💡 Tip: To avoid interruptions, set up auto top-up or keep an eye on your balance before your renewal date.
