We have positive news to share from our upstream provider:
The majority of fiber splicing work has been completed for the Dunedin to Oamaru connection, and almost all cell sites in this area are now back online.
Work is progressing well on the second fiber cut between Gore and Balclutha, with splicing currently underway and expected to be completed very soon.
This means most customers in the affected regions should now be seeing their service restored. The remaining repairs are in their final stages, and we anticipate full service restoration shortly.
Thank you for your patience throughout this outage.

Our upstream provider continues to make progress on the network restoration. So far, they've successfully restored service to 27 out of 43 cell sites across the affected areas through rerouting network traffic.
We've just received an update that repair crews have started fiber splicing work at the northern end of the tunnel for the first cut between Dunedin and Oamaru. At the same time, another team is laying new cable from the southern end to complete the connection.
Their teams are working on multiple fronts - both making direct repairs at damaged sites and continuing to explore additional routing options to bring the remaining sites back online.
We know many of you in the affected regions are now able to connect, while others may still be experiencing disruptions. Please rest assured that work is continuing, and we're following up regularly with our provider for updates.
Thank you for your continued patience as we work to fully restore service.
